Youth Led Kinship Care Project

This year Spiral Arts Therapies is offering a Youth led kinship care project for children in Glasgow. Funded by YouthLink Scotland the project will enable participants the chance of a 40 week year long multi arts initiative that enables young people to decide in what they want to take part in within the arts.

The programme aims to provide access to the arts outside of therapy sessions, empowering participants and fostering their creativity and self-expression. Led by a youth steering group, the project will offer a diverse range of artistic mediums chosen by the cohort, such as visual arts, drama, and storytelling. Professional facilitators and independent artists will support the young people, providing mentorship and helping them develop their skills and confidence. The programme will be structured around weekly sessions, with the youth steering group managing and implementing activities. The young people will make key decisions about resources, timelines, and evaluation metrics, ensuring the project remains relevant and engaging to them. Throughout the 40 weeks, participants will work towards a culminating event showcasing their artistic journey and achievements to friends and family. This celebration will recognise their hard work and raise awareness of young people's unique experiences and talents in kinship care. By placing young people at the heart of this project, we aim to create a meaningful and transformative arts experience that enhances their wellbeing, builds transferable skills, and nurtures a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
